App-A1 Model 73A PROM Revisions Document : 11/28/00
Jorway has changed the numbering system of the microcode Proms that carry the
microcode of the Model 73A. The translation is as follows:
       Old Number New Number Socket
        ---------- ---------- ------
        M73AHR2.7 3046-007 U22
        M73ALR2.7 3047-007 U23
        M73AHR2.8 3046-008 U22
        M73ALR2.8 3047-008 U23
        M73AHR2.a 3046-010 U22
        M73ALR2.a 3047-010 U23
        M73AHR3.0 3074-000 U22
        M73ALR3.0 3075-000 U23
Proms ending in -008 (formerly identified as R2.8 Proms) are used with
certain Fermilab software. They are not normally supplied, and are not required
by most software, including Linux.
Proms ending in -010 carry identical microcode to those ending in -007,
but return device type 3 in response to the SCSI INQUIRY command. This
change was made because Windows95 initially crashed when booting with a
device type 1F on the SCSI bus. Current Microsoft software is compatible
with either, as it converts type 1F to type 0 in the registry.
Proms 3074 and 3075 are used in FASTCAMAC versions of the 73A.
